Alice Hudson

Ms. Alice P. Hudson is the President and CEO of Surface Chemists of Florida, Inc. since acquiring the business in 1984.  She is a chemist with 50 years of hands-on industrial chemical experience in diverse technologies relating to surface and polymer chemistry.  Ms. Hudson has 25 patented inventions in the areas of agricultural coatings, laundry product additives, surfactants and industrial chemicals, over half of which represent products and/or processes which have been successfully commercialized.   She is an active member of the American Chemical Society, the American Oil Chemists Society and the Consumer Specialty Products Association.  Ms. Hudson was named the Florida Atlantic University College of Science Alumni of the Year in 2009.  Further information can be obtained at


Steven A. Mayans

Mr. Steven A. Mayans, a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Duke University School of Law, is a partner at FitzGerald Mayans & Cook, P.A.  His practice includes complex contract, real estate and business tort litigation, with a growing percentage devoted to alternative dispute resolution as a federal and state court certified mediator.   Mr. Mayans has served as chapter chairman of the American Red Cross, legal counsel for the largest festival/arts event in Florida, chair of a city planning board, and vice chair of a city zoning board.  He has served on the Surface Chemists of Florida Board of Directors since 1995.  Further information can be obtained at


Mark D. Veil

Mr. Mark D. Veil is a founding partner of Caler, Donten, Levine, Cohen, Porter & Veil, P.A., after starting his career with nine years at Ernst & Young in West Palm Beach, FL.   Mr. Veil has more than 25 years of public accounting experience in accounting and auditing.  He serves local government, special districts, construction businesses, not for profit organizations and a wide variety of privately held businesses.  Mr. Veil is a past president of the Northern Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce, the East Coast Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Palm Beach Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  He has served on the Surface Chemists of Florida Board of Directors since 1995.  Further information can be obtained at


Martha H. Carter, P.E.

Ms. Martha H. Carter is a professional civil engineer and Vice President of Michael B. Schorah and Associates, Inc., a civil engineering consulting firm in West Palm Beach, FL.  Ms. Carter has over 24 years’ experience in all aspects of civil engineering including residential, industrial, commercial, municipal and roadway design projects.  She has extensive knowledge of engineering design software and has done projects involving flood control, pavement, wastewater collection, pump stations, water supply and distribution systems.  Ms. Carter is a member of Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society.  She has served on the Surface Chemists of Florida Board of Directors since 2008 and has been a shareholder in the company since 2000. Frans Jager

Mr. Frans Jager is a retired CEO of Primera Turf, Inc., a purchasing cooperative for independent distributors in the professional turf maintenance business.  He made a career in a number of large multinational corporations in the field of manufacturing, distribution and trade of fertilizers and other supplies to the Turf, Horticulture and Landscape Industry.  Mr. Jager, a citizen of the Netherlands, received his law degree from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and served two years as an officer in the Royal Dutch Air Force prior to beginning his career in business.  After retiring from Primera Turf, he created Castnet Corp. as a vehicle to provide management support and executive coaching services to small, individually owned businesses.  Mr. Jager has served on the Surface Chemists of Florida Board of Directors since December, 2012.  Further information can be obtained at
